Acclaimed by the press as one of the most gifted pianists of Israel and hailed "remarkable and impressive" by The New York Times, American-born soloist, recitalist and chamber musician Nadia Weintraub continues to captivate audiences with her original programming. Her vast repertoire ranges from classical to contemporary, Gershwin and American Music. She is a frequent guest soloist with the major Israeli orchestras as well as international orchestras including The Artur Rubinstein Philharmonic in Lodz, The Zagreb Philharmonic, The Quebec Symphony Orchestra, The Chautauqua New York Music Festival Orchestra and more. Among her many concerts she appeared at renowned concert venues in Europe and the U.S such as Salla Verdi (Milan), Conservatoire de Musique (Geneva), Lincoln Center and Madison Square Garden (New York).
Born in New York City into a musical family she immigrated to Israel at age 7. A recipient of the America- Israel Culture foundation awards and winner of The M. Claremont prize, she was a pupil of Prof.Victor Dervianko. At age 17 she was awarded full scholarship to The Juilliard School in New York where she earned both her Bachelors and Masters in Music with honors as a pupil of pianist Joseph Kalichstein. Ms. Weintraub's unique piano recitals have been broadcast live on Israel's Voice of Music radio. In 2007 she founded the Philomusica Piano Quartet with members of The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. Since then the Quartet has been featured guest artists at all the major music festivals in Israel including the Israel Festival in Jerusalem. After many years abroad she currently resides in Israel with her family.
Talia Ilan - Conductor
Born in Tel Aviv (Israel),1971. Music Director of the “Israel Stage Orchestra”, Music Director of the “Campus” Symphony Orchestra Ramat Hasharon, Guest conductor with The Israel Chamber Orchestra, The Israel Sinfonietta Be'er Sheva, The New Haifa Symphony Orchestra, the Ashdod Symphony Orchestra and the Ra’anana Symphonette Orchestra. Conductor of the “Reflex” ensemble of contemporary music (NY – Tel Aviv).
Graduated from the Jerusalem Rubin Academy (M.Mus and Artist Diploma) majoring in Orchestral Conducting under the guidanceof Prof. Mendi Rodan. She was invited to study with Maestro Daniel Barenboim in Berlin Staatsoper Unter den Linden and with Michael Tilson Thomas in The London Symphony Orchestra, New world Symphony Orchestra (Miami), etc. Awarded Best Conductor at the competition with the Janáček Philharmonic, Ostrava (Czech Republic), Sept. 2000 and with the Moravian Philharmonic, Olomouc (Czech Republic), Sept. 2001. Invited as a conductor for the Ischia Music Festival (Italy), 2007 and with the Macao Orchestra (China) 2009. Recording new music for the Israeli classical music radio channel. Talia holds the conducting Teaching position at “Hed” College, Tel Aviv.
Talia is married to Yi-An Xu , and they have two daughters - Noya Ilan-Xu (born August 2010) and Shira Beatriz Ilan-Xu (born October 2014)
Classical Women Orchestra
The idea came mutually to both artists Nadia Weintraub and Talia Ilan - women in classical music presenting the essence of music
in a vision of beauty and musical imagination. The harmonic blend of Piano and String ensemble is an opportunity to showcase unique repertoire.
The string ensemble consists of a dozen women string players, members of top orchestras, gracing the stage together with conductor and pianist.
This is a celebration of experienced leading women musicians transmitting to the audience the enjoyment of music with elegance,and there is no better occasion than International Women's Day.
